TJ gained a love for the sport by watching his older brother John Eisenhart ride for the University of Utah cycling team.  In summer 2001, TJ’s family traveled to France and watched a stage of the Tour de France which really sparked the fire for TJ.  After returning home, TJ’s father searched around to find a road bike that was small enough for his 11-year-old son. Only two weeks after receiving his new road bike, TJ was competing in local events.

TJ took to cycling like a duck takes to water. He was fast from the start. – Tim Eisenhart

Favorite thing about your sport: I love the suffering that goes into the sport to become the best. You can’t just pick up a bike and win a race it takes a lot of hard hours in training. But when you do get the victory at a race, there is no better feeling in the world.

What does a normal day for you consist of?  Well now that it is my job it is basically all I do every day, I wake up around seven have some breakfast then at ten I head out for however many hours I have to do that day. When I return I grab a small lunch and rest till dinner. Then go to bed early around nine thirty.

What is your training schedule? My training schedule varies from what races I have coming up or what part of the season it is. In the heavy block of racing I do lighter rides to recover from the races and do more intervals. In the off season it is more endurance rides, mainly long rides and long miles.

What do you do in your spare time? Rest, ha no I love music I buy and listen to a lot of music. I sketch, I like to go hiking and will go on rest days.

What motivates you? I get really motivated when I think about a race that I really want to do well at.

What do you hope for the future? I hope that I can continue to do what I love until I retire.
